Daughter Adopted from China

The Bracco Family

Bracco family

Although we had 2 wonderful biological sons now 9 and 6, we had a desire to have another child. We felt that God was not leading us to undergo extensive infertility therapy, so we resigned to having no more children.

The desire to adopt had been on the heart of my wife since she was a child. In the meantime, the Lord was speaking to Shona’s heart, and not just any child but a child from China. I must admit I was not receptive to the idea. But over a four month period, I quietly began to pray and contemplate the possibility.

After meeting with God's Families it helped us ease our anxieties of dealing with all the burdens of adoption. We then knew pursue our adoption. We shared this decision with the boys and they were as excited as we were. The process of adoption is one of faith and patience. Faith that all the paperwork, money, and interviews would result in a child entering our home, patience in that the process doesn’t move as fast as you want it to.

Despite the fact that we moved during our adoption (we are a Navy family and move every 2 to 3 years) everything progressed smoothly with no problems.

We can say without hesitation that we experienced the same emotions of joy when she was handed to us as we had felt when each of our boys were handed to us in the hospital after delivery. Our adoption trip was an experience of a lifetime.

We arrived home one year to the day from starting our adoption process. For what was meant for bad, God meant for good….”

Our children are wonderful (and exhausting). They are inquisitive and intelligent kids. They are such a joy, being able to see the world through their eyes has renewed Ted and my own view of the world.”
