Daughters Adopted from Eastern Europe

The Nothum Family

Nothum family

Alina Hope (8) and Katia Joy (6) officially joined our family on Friday, September 21st, 2001. We spent eight months in preparation (adoption certification, BCIS approval, document prep and translation, etc.) and one month in Eastern Europe. We have a page full of answered prayers, and are thankful for God's grace and guidance during this big step in our lives. We're hoping that what we lack in energy will be made up by wisdom that only comes with age!!

The caregivers in the children's home did a great job of preparing them for the transition to "America". Other than the typical "kid's stuff" of testing the boundaries and sibling rivalry, we are doing pretty well. They are bright, energetic, healthy, and interested in just about everything they see. They have been in school just over a month and their teachers are impressed how quickly they are picking up English. We're hoping they will be able to learn English and keep their Russian/Eastern Europe language.
