Adopted Son

The Silvernail Family

Silvernail family

Nicholas is adjusting to life with the Silvernails, and to thank you for all you did to bring him into our lives. The last few years have been quite a journey for us, and we are very grateful to you both for your role in helping us bring our son home.

So how is Nick doing? In a word, Nick is great! He is a very happy and loving child. He is exceedingly gentle. He often surprises and delights us with his innocent view of the world. Everything is so new to him. We are rather biased, but we think he is just a beautiful little boy.

Nick's favorite thing to do is to play outside on his tricycle. He likes to play ball and to play with cars or trucks. He also will play legos with us for long stretches of time. We took him swimming the other day , and he was so excited he could hardly contain himself.

Nick loves to eat, eat, and eat. He now weighs 31 pounds (14kg). His favorite meal is dinner, because he loves meat so much. He spends hours in the high chair at dinner time, outlasting everyone at the table. He is becoming more selective about what he eats, but the quantities he consumes still amaze us.

Nick is fascinated by his sister Molly. He wants to do everything that Molly does. For her part, Molly mostly likes to do things with Nick. Molly has adjusted well to having a sibling after eight years of being an "only".

A few weeks ago, we took Nick to see Dr. Connie Hornyak, the attachment therapist, to see if he needed any special help in adjusting to life with the Silvernail Family. She met with Bob, Nick, and I for about 1-1/2 hours. Dr. Hornyak indicated that she saw no attachment issues with Nick and thought he was a wonderful child, to which we heartily agreed.

Well we could go on and on, but we will restrain ourselves. We just love Nicky!
